An original marketplace design brief

Make the opportunity
easy to understand.

A name can attract a first look. The offer itself needs to deserve the attention. These five questions form a starting brief for a future deals or bidding experience.

A proposed product perspective, not a description of an operating DealsHour marketplace. No products or bids are available here.

01 / The item

What, exactly, is the find?

Lead with the item, condition, relevant variation and seller. A useful offer page makes it possible to tell whether the opportunity fits before asking someone to act.

Design prompt: What would a buyer otherwise have to ask in a message?

02 / The value

What makes it worth considering?

Give the selection a reason: the product, its usefulness, its condition or a clearly explained price. If a comparison is shown, make its basis understandable. A crossed-out number should not do all the work of explaining value.

Design prompt: Would the offer still make sense without a discount badge?

03 / The window

When does the opportunity change?

For an event, explain its opening and closing times and the applicable time zone. For an auction, explain whether a late bid extends the session. A recurring editorial feature can simply show its publication schedule.

Design prompt: Does the displayed timing describe a real rule or just create pressure?

04 / The total

What will participating cost?

Give the person a place to understand the total, including any delivery charges, platform fees or participation costs that apply. Buying an item, placing a bid and paying to participate are different actions and should be presented distinctly.

Design prompt: What might surprise someone between the offer and completion?

05 / The next step

Who handles the purchase?

Explain whether the visitor is buying within the platform or continuing to a merchant. Make the responsible seller, support route and relevant transaction terms easy to find. The experience should still be understandable after a person leaves the discovery page.

Design prompt: Could someone tell a friend who they bought from and where to get help?

A brief worth keeping.

Use the five questions to compare possible product directions. They are an original planning aid, not a complete operating specification or legal checklist.
